Order Statuses¶
Order statuses help you track the current state of an order and communicate progress to customers.
Common order statuses¶
Pending¶
- Order created but payment not yet confirmed
- Common for COD or delayed payment methods
Processing¶
- Payment confirmed
- Order is being prepared for shipment
Fulfilled / Shipped¶
- Items have been shipped
- Tracking information is available
Delivered¶
- Shipment successfully delivered to the customer
Cancelled¶
- Order cancelled before fulfillment
- May include refunds depending on payment status
Returned / Refunded¶
- Items returned by customer
- Refund processed partially or fully
Status behavior¶
- Status updates may trigger notifications
- Some statuses are automatic; others require manual action
- Partial fulfillment can result in mixed states within one order
Best practices¶
- Update statuses promptly
- Avoid skipping steps unless necessary
- Always verify payment before shipping
