Domains¶
Domains allow you to connect a custom domain to your Shoptsy store, giving your business a professional and branded online presence.
You can use your own domain (e.g. example.com) instead of the default Shoptsy storefront URL.
Overview¶
From the Domains section, you can:
- Connect an existing domain you already own
- Assign the domain to your online store
- Manage how customers access your storefront
- Support region or market-specific domains (if configured)
Domains work seamlessly with Markets, Languages, and Checkout.
Adding a Domain¶
To connect a domain, navigate to:
Settings → Domains → Add domain

Enter the domain name you want to connect.

- Ensure you have access to the domain’s DNS settings
Target¶
The target defines where the domain points to.
Available target: - Online Store – Connects the domain to your storefront
This ensures visitors reaching the domain are directed to your Shoptsy store.
Completing Setup¶
After entering the domain and selecting the target:
- Click Next
- Follow the DNS instructions provided by Shoptsy
- Update DNS records at your domain provider
- Wait for domain verification and SSL activation
Once verified, your domain becomes active.
SSL & Security¶
- Free SSL certificates are automatically issued
- HTTPS is enabled by default
- No manual certificate installation required
This ensures secure browsing and checkout for customers.
Best Practices¶
- Use a branded domain for higher trust and conversions
- Ensure DNS records are entered exactly as provided
- Allow up to 24 hours for DNS propagation
- Avoid changing DNS records frequently during setup
- Use separate domains for different markets if needed
Common Issues & Fixes¶
Domain not connecting - Verify DNS records are correct - Ensure the domain is not proxied incorrectly - Check if DNS propagation is complete
SSL not active - Wait for automatic SSL provisioning - Ensure domain verification is successful
Store not loading - Confirm the domain target is set to Online Store - Check market and language routing settings
