Cash on Delivery (COD)¶
Cash on Delivery allows customers to pay for their order at the time of delivery instead of paying online.
How COD works¶
- Customer places order and selects COD at checkout
- Order is marked as Pending Payment
- Payment is collected by the delivery partner
- Order is marked as Paid after successful delivery (manual or automated update)
When COD is useful¶
- Customers prefer not to pay online
- Building trust with new customers
- High-conversion option in certain regions
COD considerations¶
- Higher return-to-origin (RTO) risk
- Slower cash flow compared to prepaid
- May involve extra courier charges
Best practices¶
- Enable COD only for eligible locations
- Set order value limits for COD
- Confirm orders before shipping if required
- Clearly mention COD terms on product pages
