Warehouses¶
Warehouses define where your inventory is stored and fulfilled from.
They play a critical role in order routing, shipping calculations, inventory availability, and fulfillment priority.
Overview¶
From the Warehouses section, you can:
- Create and manage warehouse locations
- Set a default warehouse for fulfillment
- Control which warehouse receives new orders first
- Optimize shipping and inventory handling for multiple locations
A store can have one or multiple warehouses depending on operational needs.
Warehouse List¶
Each warehouse includes:
- Warehouse name
- Contact phone number
- Location details
- Default status (if applicable)
The Default badge indicates the primary warehouse used when no other warehouse is explicitly assigned.
Use Edit to update warehouse details.
Default Warehouse¶
The default warehouse is used by Shoptsy when:
- No specific warehouse is assigned to a product
- Order routing rules do not override warehouse selection
How it works¶
- Only one warehouse can be set as default
- New stores typically start with a single default warehouse
- You can change the default warehouse at any time
Click Change default warehouse to update this setting.
Warehouse Priority¶
Warehouse priority determines which warehouse is assigned new orders first.
This is useful when:
- You operate multiple warehouses
- Inventory exists in more than one location
- You want to control fulfillment order (e.g. nearest warehouse, fastest dispatch)
Priority behavior¶
- Orders are assigned based on priority order
- If stock is unavailable in the first warehouse, the next one is considered
- Priority rules help reduce shipping time and costs
Click View or edit warehouse priority to manage the order sequence.
Best Practices¶
- Always set a default warehouse
- Use warehouse priority when operating multiple locations
- Keep warehouse addresses accurate for correct shipping rates
- Review warehouse settings when expanding to new regions
- Align warehouses with shipping carriers and markets
Common Issues & Fixes¶
Orders not assigned correctly - Check default warehouse configuration - Review warehouse priority order
Inventory showing unavailable - Ensure products are stocked in the correct warehouse - Verify warehouse-product assignments
Incorrect shipping rates - Confirm warehouse address and region - Ensure shipping zones match warehouse location
